Social Worker - Safeguarding

Halton Council are looking for an experienced and motivated Adult Social Worker to join our Safeguarding Adults Team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of adults who may be experiencing abuse, neglect, exploitation or other forms of harm.

Key Responsibilities

As an Adult Social Worker within the Safeguarding Team, you will:

• Undertake adult safeguarding enquiries and assessments in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• Complete thorough and proportionate risk assessments, developing and reviewing risk management and safeguarding plans.
• Undertake duty work, responding promptly to safeguarding concerns, referrals and urgent requests for social care support.
• Assess the needs, strengths and desired outcomes of adults and their carers.
• Identify and respond to concerns relating to abuse, neglect, self-neglect, domestic abuse, financial abuse, organisational abuse and exploitation.
• Work collaboratively with adults, families, carers and partner agencies to identify risks and agree appropriate interventions.
• Make professional decisions regarding risk, capacity, safeguarding and proportionality.
• Apply the principles of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and other relevant legislation and guidance.

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
• Experience of working with adults in a social care, safeguarding or statutory setting.
• Knowledge and practical understanding of adult safeguarding, risk assessment and risk management.
• Experience of undertaking assessments and managing complex or high-risk situations.
• Good understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and safeguarding procedures.
• Strong communication, recording and report-writing skills.
