Pay Officer

Salary: Up to £15.31 per hour
Location: Widnes

 

Halton Borough Council is hiring an experienced Pay Officer to support an important payroll transition project.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to join a busy and supportive team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the transition project and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll.

About the role

As a Pay Officer, you will support the payroll function during a period of transition, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. You will be responsible for a range of payroll duties and will work closely with colleagues across the Council.

What we're looking for

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' payroll experience
  • Experience working in a busy payroll environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • The ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Experience using iTrent or Unit4 would be a distinct advantage.

Contract details

  • Pay rate: £15.31 per hour
  • Contract: Minimum 2 months, supporting a transition project
  • Start date: October 2026
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Location: Initially based on site at the DCBL Stadium, Widnes, before moving to a hybrid working arrangement
