Catering Assistant (casual) - Day Services
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and motivated catetring assistant to join our Day Services team on a casual basis. This role is primarily focused on supporting the preparation, serving, and delivery of meals and refreshments for individuals accessing our services.
You will help create a welcoming and inclusive environment, ensuring high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and customer service are maintained at all times. While this is predominantly a catering-focused role, there may be occasional occasions where you are required to provide practical support to individuals attending the service. Therefore, previous experience in a support work, care, or community-based role would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and drinks.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene within kitchen and dining areas.
- Wash and store kitchen equipment and utensils safely.
- Monitor and replenish food and beverage supplies.
- Support the catering team to meet dietary requirements and preferences.
- Deliver excellent customer service to people attending Day Services, visitors, and colleagues.
- Provide occasional support and assistance to individuals accessing the service when required.
- Follow all health and safety, food hygiene, safeguarding, and organisational policies and procedures.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a catering, kitchen assistant, or food service environment.
- Ideally has some experience within a support worker, care, disability support, or community setting.
- Has a caring, patient, and approachable manner.
- Understands the importance of promoting dignity, independence, and inclusion.
- Works well as part of a team and can use their own initiative.
- Has good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Holds a Food Hygiene Certificate (desirable but not essential as training may be provided).
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly rate of £13.45 per hour.
- Flexible casual working arrangements.
- A supportive and friendly team environment.
- The chance to make a positive difference to the lives of people accessing our Day Services.
If you enjoy working in catering and are passionate about supporting people within your community, please contact the team on 0151 511 66 88.
Please note: While this role is predominantly focused on catering duties, applicants should be comfortable providing occasional support to individuals attending the service. Previous support work experience is therefore highly desirable.
